Kind shoes– Written by Nader Musavi- 19 February 2018
It was the Seville orange shoe planting ceremony today! Both the teachers and the students planted Seville orange seeds in the old and unusable shoes. Few days ago, the students gathered and soaked the Seville orange seeds with some help from Ms. Soria, the literature and Shahnameh reciting teacher. The seed’s coating became soft and easy to break open. Today they filled in the shoes with garden soil mixed with shredded leaves, planted the seeds and then started watering them. I could only stay around for about an hour, yet it was easy to see how a small group activity as such can teach the kids different things and be motivating and entertaining for them.
I hope all the seeds as well show some compassion and sprout!
