BREAKING THE NORMS HAS BECOME NORMAL- Written by Nader Musavi- 12 November 2016
This year we have a lot of new students who have recently come from Afghanistan. Unfortunately, experience has shown that most of the students who spent their childhood in Afghanistan are disobedient to school rules and norms.
In the past one and a half months since school has begun, we have had few incidents concerning their misbehavior. Last week one of the classes had library time, and most students were newcomers. Despite repeatedly explaining the rules of the library to them, after they left, three teachers had to work for hours to organize and put back the books on the shelves.
Four years of nonstop war and conflict in Afghanistan have changed the culture within the families to an aggression-loving culture, which is the root of the rule-breaking behavior in kids. To break this damaging cycle, improvement should start in the family.
